Embellish Challenge

Hi !

How is your week going? I hope you are enjoying some nice weather. For those of you on spring break, I hope you are enjoying your vacation!

Today's card is for the latest Embellish challenge. The challenge was to use light pink, aqua, and kraft with stitching.

Again, I went to the Lawn Fawn Sew Lovely set. How could I not? It's perfect for this challenge. The colors are so soft. I also used the Lawn Fawn Petite Florals with versamark for the background. I stamped the dress form on a die cut vanilla card stock and shaded with a light gray (C1) copic to add depth. I stamped it again on another piece of vanilla card stock, colored with my copics, cut it out and adhered to the base (notice the continuation of cutting and coloring). I also threw in some french knots on the band on the dress. I think they go perfectly with this dress form.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Wishing you all blessings

EBTKS#12

Hi Friends,

It's that time again, a new EBTKS challenge! This time we are to use string. Stitching and sewing are so popular right now that I know you all will be able to join in on this one! Any string counts, it can be floss, twine, you name it, be creative!
For my card, I went with some stitching and used the Lawn Fawn Set, Sew Lovely, just love that set. It's so fun, and it went with theme perfectly!

I also used some of the uber fun Cosmo Cricket Material Girl paper. I love that paper. I have to force myself not to hoard it. It goes "sew" well with Sew Lovely that I have to pair them up! I also found at Archiver's coordinating buttons for the Material Girl paper. OH my, I had to get some of those!

Hope you join in with us on the challenge. We have another fabulous prize to give away this time, a $15 gift card to the Digi-chick! There are so many cute templates there, I wish I could win!! (I think I feel like that with each round of challenges...) Head on over to the EBTKS blog and get all the deets and check out the great card the design team came up with.

Have a great week, we look forward to seeing your creations.

2Sketches for You

Hey Friends,

Hope you are enjoying your weekend.  I have to say that my Saturday has been quite lovely.  I slept in, crafted, took a nap, exercised (still trying to get in a rhythm), and now crafting some more.

I’ve really been wanting to do more challenges, so I made a card for the 2S4Y.  I hope you like it.

2s4ybday2

I flipped it on its side, but tried to stay pretty true to the layout.  I have a lot of friends and family birthdays coming up, so I am stocking up on birthday cards. I used the Hero Arts clear stamp set, Big and Small Flowers, so cute!

Enjoy your weekend, hope spring is coming to your area. We are getting glimpses of it here in Indiana.

Hugs!

CPS sketch #159 take 2

Hi and happy Friday!

Who’s excited for the weekend?? I am, I am :)   Do you have any fun plans for the weekend?  Thankfully, our weekend is looking pretty low-key although Carlin has to go into work tomorrow morning which is disappointing.

For today’s card, I made another card using the CPS sketch number 159 because I wasn’t loving my other card for some reason.  And because I have been needing, yes needing to play with Courtney’s latest set!

So here’s the sketch:

159_March21_None

And here’s what I came up with:

DSC_0048

As you can see a lot of paper piecing was involved.  Hmmm, cutting pretty paper, yep, I like it!  I think I’m also going to post it on Moxie Fab’s latest challenge for paper piecing because this card is all about it.

I used Cosmo Cricket’s Joy Ride set which seemed appropriate with the hot air balloons (okay, I think I’ve admitted before that I am a tad anal and also a complete nerd).

I also used Courtney’s You’re Dandy’s rays on this card which I think is a great compliment to the Joy Ride.

At any rate, I hope you like it and have a very blessed weekend!

Nothing clever

Hi!

I don’t know about you all, but I struggle to come up with a post title.  So today, I’m just going with it… Any thoughts or suggestions out there on how to title your blog posts?

So, I was really excited because I bought a Silhouette SD.  I got a bonus on March 3rd, and since we’ve decided not to go on vacation, I splurged and ordered a Silhouette as I thought it would be a nice compliment to my Big Shot.  Tonight, we tried to install it.  I tried at first with no luck.  I brought in my much more tech savvy hubby who also struggled. Come to find out that it isn’t Windows 7 compatible… Um, HELLO?!!  As we read on one comment stream, I just bought a very expensive dust collector :(  I’m very sad about it.  We emailed QuickKutz, but I’m not optimistic.

Enough of my whining…. Sorry for that, but thank you for indulging me.  Today’s card uses Lawn Fawn’s Critters in the Burbs and was for the Sketch challenge at CPS.

I really like this sketch, but I’m not totally in love with my take on it.  I may try again.

How is your week going?  Any travel plans, I know that spring break is upon us, so I would love to hear about your trips that you have planned.  (I can live vicariously through my blogging buddies).

Have a blessed day

New Filling

Hi Friends

Well, today, I had to go visit my dentist to get a tooth filled.  I had a check up last week and found out that I needed a filling.  Going to the dentist isn’t a problem for me. I don’t have the phobia that many people seem to about the dentist. In fact, I really like my dentist. The whole office is so nice.  The only thing is now, my jaw is a bit sore from the shots.  (The tooth filled is the furthest back, so I’m a little sore from it).

Today’s card is one that I made awhile back. Doesn’t it just look summery and cheery?? I guess the bike is flying though…. I tend to obsess about such things.  I’m a little too anal retentive about things at times.  Again, I used a combination of stamps (my continuing justification for owning so many stamps).  The butterflies from Lawn Fawn,  bike is rubber soul, the sun is from Stampendous, and the sentiment from Hero Arts.  I colored with my Copics.

summerbike

Lately, my mojo has gone missing.  Not sitting down at the crafting table doesn’t help. I’ve been doing a lot of coloring (which I tend to do when cards aren’t coming together to my liking.)

Hope your week is off to a great start.  Big hugs!

Sunday Afternoon

Hi Friends,

I just love Sundays. Today we went to church and then had lunch with a wonderful family from our church.  We enjoyed nice conversation and fellowship.  After that, we came home, I finished up a birthday present that needs to get in the mail and took a nap.  Yep, I love Sunday afternoons.

Because of my nap, and other things, I haven’t made anything today. However, I do have something to share that I made earlier. It’s another Easter card.  This stamp set is from Whipper Snapper Designs (Friendship Blooms), and it’s so cute.

I’m so into coloring and cutting these days, and this set was perfect to indulge my latest passion.

Hope you enjoy the rest of your day and that your week starts off well

Jump on Easter

Hi there friends,

So I’ve been working on Easter cards. I have some cute images that I can color. Right now, I’m in a coloring phase, so I’m embracing it, and why not when there is such cuteness to be colored?:)

corinaeaster

This card uses the bunny from Critters in the burbs from Kelly’s new stamp line, a $1 stamp from Michael’s, and the chicks come from a Whipper Snapper set. That’s one perk of collecting so many stamps, you can really build on them… (That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it!)

I actually made 4 of these for a friend at work who ordered some Easter cards. She really liked them, so I am happy about that!

Hope you had a fabulous Tuesday.

EBTKS#11

Hi Friends

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend. We sure did. It was so nice to be home and not traveling. We had an impromptu lunch with my mom, brother and nephew Saturday, and then Sunday we spent a great deal of the day at church, we had morning service, all church lunch, and then a mission report from a recent trip toHaiti which was truly amazing. We had Sunday evening service which is always fun because we have more time for fellowship. Since I had been sick and then traveling, I've missed some church services recently, and it was such a blessing to reconnect with the church family.

I wanted to thank you for your sweet comments on my previous post. You guys are so kind and encouraging. Truly, I am in a good place right now with card-making. I had an important reality check, and now I'm back to doing what I enjoy for the right reasons:) For awhile there, I was just on a mission to get cards published, and it was becoming too much like work which is not why I got into card-making. I am so grateful for the sweet people this little blog has brought into my life. You all bless me in so many ways.

Now, onto other things.... It's March 15th, so you know what that means??? Another sketch challenge from Everything But the Kitchen Sink. This is a great one that comes from Kelley's craft room. I had so many ideas for this sketch...

I had a ton of ideas, and this is what I endeed up going with. I have had this set from Hero Arts for awhile now and been wanting to play with it. I think these fishes are so fun. I colored them with my Copics and cut them out (I'm truly reverting back to my childhood, coloring and cutting). For the ocean, I used Ranger alcohol inks on glossy cardstock to create the blueish green water. I used my slit punch with the guard off to create the waves. And I finally remembered to use some clear transparency for the card base. Seemed fitting for this motif. There's a fabulous prize involved from this challenge. One of the new Lawn Fawn sets, Petite Florals. This set is amazing with endless possibilities. While you are there, you should check out the other 4 amazing sets. Wow, they are CUTE!!

So go check out the EBTKS blog to see the other inspirational cards. I cannot wait to see what you create. You guys always amaze us with what you come up with.

Big hugs to you all

Yay for the weekend!

Hi Friends,

Welcome to the weekend. I am so happy it’s here.  Do you have any fun plans? We’re going for a laid back at home weekend which I love!  After traveling and both being sick for awhile, it will be nice just to be around the house and relax (and craft…)

Today, I’m posting a card I made using Courtney’s Just Dandy set. I actually submitted it for publication, but it appears that I got denied :(  That’s just the way it goes. I’ve decided that I’m not going to be so consumed with submitting for publications. It had gotten so that I wasn’t enjoying the card-making, and that defeats the purpose of crafting.  I also take it very personally when things don’t go as I would like. I know I shouldn’t feel like that for a myriad of reasons, but I’m an overly sensitive person in general.  I am working on it, and part of that is doing what I’ve described above.  I just want to have fun making cards and new friends :)

Sorry for the ramble…. Here’s today’s card, hope you enjoy!

inkembossaug2010 copy

I stamped Ranger alcohol inks on Stampin’ Up! Glossy cardstock and then embossed the dandelions on it. Then I rounded the corners, tied some ribbon around it and adhered it to a card base. Easy peasy :)

Have a goodie friends, and remember on Monday another EBTKS Sketch challenge!

Hugs!

Lawn Fawn Reveal Wrap up

Hi Dear Friends
I hope you've been having fun with the Lawn Fawn activities for the last week or so. I'm so glad I'm back in town for the store opening. Go check it out, it's open!!! (The link is to Kelly's blog since I don't have the store link yet).

As a wrap up to the reveal of her new sets, Kelly asked us to post our favorites. Well, I wanted to create some new stuff. I'm still trying to get back in the crafting groove since I've been traveling. What better way to do that than to play with her amazing new stamps!

This first card uses both Critters in the Burbs and Petite Florals. I had to make an Easter Card with that adorable bunny.

This is another example of the How Delightful set. I let the patterned paper dictate the colors of the card.

Lastly, I had to make a card using the dress form. I just love LOVE the dress form. It's so fun to color and practice shading. And it begs to be paper pieced. Here's what I came up with.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed all the previews. Trust me, if you decide to purchase any (or all) of these sets, you will find all sorts of uses for them. You won't be disappointed.
Big hugs to you!

Lawn Fawn--How Delightful

Hi There Friends

It's another day of previews for the upcoming Lawn Fawn release. These sets are all so amazing and fun. I just know you are going to love them. Please go to Kelly's blog to check out the other design team members' samples. Kelly will also have all the details on the upcoming release, etc.

This first card, I used the light bulb and stamped it across the bottom in bright colors. I figured light bulbs are bright, so it seemed fitting to use bright colors :)

The second card, I used some new Cosmo Cricket Paper (Nutmeg). I really love Cosmo Cricket, but I digress. I stamped the lamp on the card base and then again on white paper in different colors so that I could cut them out and pop up pieces of the lamp.
Lastly, I used this adorable chandelier. I just love this sweet chandelier, whimsical, yet elegant at the same time. I embossed it with Zing embossing powder, yum! They have such fun colors of embossing powder.

Hope you like. Kelly has the deets at her blog, so be sure to check it out!
Hugs

Petite Florals

Hi Friends

I'm BACK!!! YAY!! There's no place like home. I am so glad to be home. It was a long, hectic, and exhausting week. I received some questions about what I do. I work on clinical research studies for a pharmaceutical company. The amount of my travel (and where) depends on the studies I have at the time and their needs.

Now, onto the reason you stopped by... More sneak peeks at the upcoming Lawn Fawn sets. Today, we are previewing Petite Florals. I made three cards, and I have so many other ideas running through my head on what else I can make with this extremely versatile set. These cards are pretty simple due to my travel schedule. Take a look:

I still am not linked up to everything with Lawn Fawn yet. Our internet was down yesterday, so I really did not get to catch up on things. It's up right now, so I'm taking adavantage. Be sure to go to Kelly's Blog and check out the other fabulous samples!
I am so excited to check out my blog list and see what you've all been creating. There is still time to play in the EBTKS fabric challenges. There's a great prize associated, so give that a try!

Lawn Fawn--Critters in the Burbs

Hello!

Today, I get to share with you another Lawn Fawn set, "Critters in the Burbs." Oh my goodness, this set is ADORABLE. It has so many cute animal, tree, flowers, grass. I cannot list all of them. And I certainly couldn't begin to use them all in just a couple of cards. You must go check Kelly's blog to see the amazing projects her design team came up with.

Here are a couple of cards that I made:

Seriously, how cute is that cat image??? Really! And it is just the beginning, here's another one:
Look at those cute little animal images... and the flowers! Like I said, I didn't even come close to using all the images in this adorable set. You must go see the other design team members to see what they've done with this amazing set!

Big hugs

Lawn Fawn

Hi Friends,

So, I'm sure you are all just as excited as I am about Kelly Marie's new adventure. She's got a lot of fun planned in the days ahead.

Today, I get to tell you that Kelly asked me to be part of her design team. I am beyond thrilled, humbled and excited. This is the first Product Design Team that I've been asked to serve. For it to be with Kelly Marie, one of my first blogging friends and just one of the sweetest people I know. So go to her blog and check out the rest of her team, she's assembled. She has got some really amazing talent on her team, (again, I am so honored to be a part of it).

Keep checking back, there's more to come. Pretty soon, you'll get to see some samples of her new sets.

Big hugs!

Travels

Hey there

I'm off to meetings in England, but I'm scheduling blog posts for while I'm gone. This is really just a filler post because the real fun starts on the 2nd.

This card is a reject from a previous pub call. I really like the colors of it, and the embossing folder is one of my favorites!

I have to share some photos of some of our critters. They really do some of the cutest things. Take a look at Patty (cat) and Bonnie (dog). Patty absolutely adores Bonnie, as you can see from this photo. Patty will meow with excitement when Bonnie comes in the room and curl up next to her and just purr (she was purring at top volume in this photo).

This next photo is of my adorable, manipulative, beloved Frodo. He was Carlin's cat before we got married, and we have joked that I married him for Frodo. (It's not true, but Frodo is a perk as he is the SWEETEST cat ever). And he knows how to work it... take a look at this pose (please ignore the messy bed, he crawled in after I got up and was getting ready for work)

Have a wonderful day, and please please come back tomorrow... Very exciting stuff
Big Hugs!
Nette
