End of 2009

Hi Friends,

Wow, can you believe that this is the end of 2009? Where did the time go? The year just flew by. And speaking of time flying, we're about to enter the next decade of the 2000's. I remember the 1999 New Year's eve like it was yesterday.

I know everyone will be making resolutions, and I am no exception. But I also think that it's a good time to count our blessings. I am so grateful for how the Lord has blessed me. And I want my blogging friends (that's you) to know that I count you amongst my blessings. Thanks for visiting my blog, taking time to comment, and for your friendship. I treasure the people I've met through this blog, and I look forward to forging more friendships and deepening those existing friendships into 2010.

So, for today's card, I truly don't remember if I've shared it or not. I do not think I have, but if it's a repeat, please accept my apologies. I hope you like it!

Have a safe and blessed New Year's Eve. I'll catch ya next year!

Love,

Nette

Long break

HI Sweet friends,

I hope you are still out there.  I know I’ve been absent for a long time. I had a lot going on and just had to take a break from the blogging for awhile.

While I was on hiatus, there was another Everything But the Kitchen Sink Sketch Challenge, and we have another challenge winner and 2 more divas.

Winner Grid 5

Check out these fabulous creations.  Wow was it hard to decide.  As usual, you all dazzled us with your creations.  You should go check out our winner and divas’ blogs (Teresa, Travelingmama, and Paloma) .

Tomorrow, we have another challenge using materials from around the house. I think you all will like this one…. Be sure to check back.

Part of the reason I was absent was due to a business trip to South Africa.  Now, usually my business trips do not entail going to such amazing locations.  So this opportunity was a real blessing.  We did take some extra time to see some of the amazing sites along the beautiful garden route of South Africa (which is along the southern coast of the country).  I thought I’d share some photos of the trip…

DSC_1014 DSC_1261 DSC_0403_edited-1

I won’t post anymore here, but I’m going to be putting up an album for you to look through if you’re interested. It is truly an amazingly beautiful country. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to visit.

Hope you’ll come back tomorrow for the next EBTKS challenge.

Hugs

EBTKS Challenge

Hi Ya,

Well, it’s the end of the month, and you know what that means. Another challenge from the Everything but the Kitchen Sink group. This month’s host is Kelley Eubanks, and the regular household item she chose for us to use in our creations was “toothpicks.”

The first thing I thought of when I got the challenge info was making a fence out of toothpicks, so that’s what I went with.

DSC_0984_edited-2

Be sure to go to the EBTKS blog to check out the prize package, it’s another goodie. I hope you play along, we always love seeing what you make.

Have a goodie!

MIA

HI Friends

I will be absent most of the next week as I am off on a business trip.

However, having said that, please stop by on Monday for the next installment of the Around the House challenge from Everything but the Kitchen Sink.  It’s a doozy.

I look forward to seeing what everyone creates while I am off.  And I hope to have some photos to share with you from my trip (the down time, that is…. the meetings wouldn’t be too fun to share).

Have a blessed week

I hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving. We certainly did. Good food, time with family, we certainly have a lot to be thankful for.

I had to make a card for Dawn’s latest color challenge. I really like these colors. I may end up making some more cards using these colors. They look so good together.

CARDS Blog buttons

Hi Friends,

Happy Thanksgiving to you. I hope that you all have a happy holiday.  And if you are traveling, I pray for safe travels.

I am truly blessed and very thankful for all the blessings that God has given to me, far more than I deserve.  We are looking forward to a day with our family tomorrow.  Carlin’s parents, my mom, brother and nephew will be at our house.

We will enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving meal, with the exception of I didn’t make a pumpkin pie. I made a pumpkin trifle instead.  I hope they don’t mind:)  I took today off to prepare, and boy did I get a lot accomplished. Tomorrow should (should, I say) be a lot less hectic.

Anyway, here is today’s card.  I made it for the CARDS blog challenge to use at least 5 buttons. Well, I love buttons, and I have PLENTY.  I had to play along.

DSC_1429_edited-1

Thanks for looking.  Have a very blessed Holiday, and if you are braving “black Friday,”  best wishes to you… I’d love to hear your tales.

Blessings to you all!

Another Hero Arts challenge

Hi Friends,

Hope you have had a great weekend. We had a very enjoyable one and are looking forward to the short work week. We're having family to our house, so we will be busy prepping for that. I'm also leaving next Sunday for a business trip to South Africa (pretty cool, huh?? Long LONG flight(s), but still cool). I'll be gone for over a week but plan to set up some posts whilst I'm traveling.

Today's project isn't a card but a small clear bucket from Archiver's. Since I also make jewelry (and always make some for Christmas gifts), these are perfect to "wrap" the jewelry as gifts.

These are so adorable. I may have to venture back to Archiver's to invest in some more. They will make such adorable packages. This one is made for a specific friend who loves sparkle and pink. There's a lot of glitter on the strip in the tin. It was really hard to photograph... but I hope you like it nonetheless.

Have a blessed day.

Hero Arts glitter

HI Friends
How has your week been? I hope you're enjoying it. Tomorrow is Friday, and I know we can all agree that we love the weekend :)
Tonight's post is a card that I made and put on my flickr page for last week's Hero Art's challenge to use glitter. I love glitter, so I had a good time with it. Hope you like too!I used glitter, stickles, and even the button had glitter in it!!! Yay for sparkly!
Thanks for stopping in today.

Everything but the Kitchen Sink Sketh Challenge

Hi Friends,

I'm excited to be posting an announcement about some exciting things going on with the Everything but the Kitchen Sink Challenge. In addition to the end of the month challenge to create something using ordinary items from around the house, we're adding a sketch challenge to the mix. Now, in keeping with the EBTKS theme of household inspiration, each sketch will be inspired by something from around the host's house. Cool, huh?! Courtney (our fearless challenge leader) is a genius! If this wasn't exciting enough, EBTKS now has a blog of its very own. Go check it out, here.

Now onto this month's challenge... Courtney took on the inaugural sketch challenge, using this as her inspiration...

And here it is in sketch format:

Neat, huh?
This is what I did with the sketch. I must admit my card didn't come together as quickly as I would've hoped, but I did finally end up with something that I'm willing to share.

And since EBTKS is a challenge blog, we'd love for you to play along. Oh, and did I mention there's a prize involved??? Yep, and it's a goodie this month. A $25 gift card to Two Peas. Woohoo! Who doesn't love a gift card, so start creating! We can't wait to see what you come up with. If you need inspiration, go check out the blog and the awesome designers Ann, Courtney, Kelley, Kelly Marie and Winter.
Have fun and happy crafting.
Oh, and GO COLTS

Place cards

Hi!

How has your week been? I'm so glad the weekend is here. I am looking forward to relaxing and watching the BIG Colts vs. Patriots matchup Sunday night. Since this blog is mainly for crafty sharing, I don't discuss my love of football too often, but Sunday night is BIG, HUGE. The rivalry between the Colts and the Patriots has grown to big proportions, and I can tell you that Tom Brady and the Patriots are not loved here in Indy. There are blue lights all around downtown already. The city is gearing up for the big matchup. GO COLTS!!
Okay, okay, enough of that. I have been wanting to play along with the CARDS blog challenges for some time now. This week, I finally did although I didn't get them emailed. (Baby steps I guess... next time I'll hopefully not only make something but send it in too!) Anyway, here is what I came up with. Hope you like!
A close up of Carlin's and my place cards....
and here's a view of the family cards. I really think that our family is going to enjoy these. I'm probably going to have to come up with some more accessorizing to go along with them:) And I will still have to cook!

thanks for stopping by friends!

Hero Arts Challenge

Hi Girls,

Wow, another end to a weekend. They sure do fly by so fast.

I made a card to participate in the Hero Arts challenge to use non-traditional Christmas colors for a Christmas card. So this is what I came up with.

I actually used all Hero Arts stamps on this one, and I mixed in some embossing.

Gotta run, my computer is acting up.... Hang with me friends, just a few weeks and it'll be better.

Saturday

Hi Dear Friends

I cannot believe how long it's been since I've posted. I have to say that for the next couple of week's my posts may be somewhat random. My computer's hardrive is dying. So I've been at the whim of it's temperament. My sweet hubby told me that he had been planning to surprise me with a new one, but because of the recent randome decline, he's bumped up the ordering of it. He ordered it today, and it should be here by November 23rd, and I am SO excited.

Onto today's post. This is a card I made awhile back. I have lots of more recent cards to photograph and edit, but I just cannot get it done on my laptop right now. (Again my sweet hubs has offered up his much newer and faster laptop for me to use... I tell ya, I married a sweetheart).

If I've shared this card before, my apologies, but I do not think I have....

Oh how I love butterflies....

Supplies:

Stamps: Hero Arts Everyday Sayings, Stampin' Up! Great Friend

Paper: Papertrey Ink: Raspberry Fizz, Ripe Avocado. Stampin' Up! Lovely Lilac

Ink: PTI: Raspberry Fizz, Stampin' Up Craft White

Accessories: SU! Beautiful Butterflies, Provocraft Cuttlebug Swiss Dots, Buttons Galore, DMC floss, Fiskars Apron Lace, PTI Raspberry Fizz polka dot ribbon

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Everything but the Kitchen Sink Challenge number 2

Hi Friends,

Well, today is the day for the second installment of the Everything but the Kitchen Sink Challenge. And this one was a doozy. As you can see, the challenge was to use TP. At first I had no idea what to do with this. Then an idea came to me, and I just went with it... TP flowers.

I made the flower by cutting multiple circles of tp in varying sizes and scraping the edges (distressing if you will) in Raspberry fizz ink and after doing the layers, I gathered the middle and tied them in the back to get the ruffly look.
The really cool thing about this challenge is all the different takes by the Design Team. You must go check out their blogs: Courtney, Winter, Kelley, Ann and Kelly Marie. As before, we are inviting you to play along. This time, Kelly Marie is offering an adorable prize package of some cute stamps. Go to her blog for details but the prize package is pictured below:

I mean look at the cuteness here. The Amuse set covers all holidays. It is a one stop shop for your stamping needs!!! Awesomeness.
So come and play along, we cannot wait to see what you come up with. This time, we'll have one winner who will get these fun stamps, but also 5 domestic divas. There were just too many great cards before not to call them out.

We can't wait to see what you come up with.
Big hugs!

Raspberry Suite Challenge

Hi again

Two posts so close together... It's because I put off posting. My computer has been giving me fits lately. Trying to figure it out, but in the meantime, it's slow and frustrating

This entry is for the Raspberry Suite Challenge #18. I love these colors. I have to admit that I'm not in love with the card though. I wanted to play with the Giga guidelines, so I broke it in on this challenge.Have a great night friends

Play Date Cafe

HI All
I'm joining in on a new challenge. It's called the Play Date Cafe, and the first week's challenge features beautiful autumnal colors. I had to play along. Here is my submission for the challenge.

This has to be short. I've got another post coming. Gotta post my entry for the Raspberry Suite challenge

Paper Tearing

Hi Friends,

How was your weekend? I hope you enjoyed it. Don't they always go by so fast? I am taking tomorrow off (gotta start using up the vacation time so that I do not lose it). I love taking Mondays off. They are my least favorite day of the week, so it seems a wise choice to me to stay home. I'm actually meeting two wonderful friends for lunch tomorrow, so I have that to look forward to as well!
Onto today's card, I made this for the latest Hero Arts challenge to incorporate paper tearing into your card. My first thought was snow banks, so this is what I came up with. The photo doesn't do the glitter justice, but the snow banks are covered in glitter to add some sparkle. Hope you like!

Paper: Stampin' Up
Ink: Versamark, Stampin' Up!
Stamps: Hero Arts Clouds and Owl Christmas

Just because

Hi my friends

How is your week going so far? Personally, I feel as if I've worked a full week already. This post is going to be a short one because I'm ready for bed.
This colors for this card were inspired by the flowers. I just love those floradoodles. Aren't they just so fun? Of course, I had to use my swiss dots folder. I use that thing so much. It was the best $4.95 I've spent I think!

Sorry this is so short, but I really must go to bed. I'd love to hear from you!

Hugs!

Owl Crazy --- CPS sketch

Hi Friends,

Yay! It's Saturday. Oh, how I love the weekends. This morning, I got up to participate in the CPS sketch challenge. I have had so much trouble crafting during the week recently because I'm so tired when I get home. Work is really wearing me out. So it was really nice just to get up this morning and craft a little bit. I have chores to get done, but I am glad I spent a little time doing something fun.

You're going to be seeing a trend. Owls, I've caught the bug. I know they've been trendy for awhile, but I didn't jump on the bandwagon at first. (I'm always behind!) But now I'm in love. For today's card, I used a technique that Jennifer McGuire discussed on her blog awhile back. She stamped an owl on the back of the paper and then cut it out. So I used that idea as the basis of my owl. I've made several of these guys, so you will be seeing more. (I also have another card for this sketch but turned on its side). Anyway, onto the card:

I had to put the googly eyes on there. My husband thinks all cards are better with googly eyes! This card is very fallish, so I plan to send it to someone who has a fall birthday.
What are you plans for the weekend? I hope you all enjoy your weekend
Blessings!

Thinking of you

Hi Friends,

How are you today? Who is staying up for the Papertrey release? Unfortunately, I won't be. I have an early morning meeting tomorrow and need a full night of rest. Tonight's post is also going to be short and sweet because I got a last minute request for a Boss's day card that needs to get done.

We broke down and turned on the heat today. I hate turning it on so early in the season. Truthfully, we could've turned it on sooner because it's gotten cold so early, but I fought it since it's just now October.

Onto tonight's card. I hope you enjoy. I went back to the clear embossing I love. I think that just adds such a nice punch to cards. Hope you like.
I wanted to say congrats to the first Everything but the Kitchen Sink Challenge winner, Randee. There were so many wonderful entries, we were just in awe of the amazing creativity. I hope that you will check back on the 31st for the next month's installment... I'm already thinking of what I'm going to do.

Take care friends!

Just a note

Hi Friends,

How are you? I hope your week is off to a good start! I'm loving fall. This time of year is one of my favorites. I love seeing the leaves change, the cooler temperatures, and seeing the holidays in the not so distant future :) Having said that, I feel like I'm already behind on holiday preparations.

Today's card is one I made when my friend, Demaree, visited from Chicago. I just love this paper (it was in a pad from Archiver's they gave out if you spent $50 --which isn't difficult to do, as I am sure you know!) And I think the deer is so darling. It's a pretty simple card really, but sometimes, simple is the way to go.

Well, my dear friends, I've got bible study tomorrow night and some more prepping to do for that. Have a wonderful evening/day:)

Thanks for stopping by!

Three challenges

Hi Friends,
I hope you are enjoying your weekend. Anyone have any exciting plans? We're having a beautiful crisp fall day, and we're busy doing things around the house. Carlin is preparing to teach tomorrow at church, and I've been picking up, running errands. I hope to get in some crafty time. I have a list of "to-dos," so I hope to mark some of those off the list.
Today's card actually meets the requirements for 3, yes, 3 challenges!! I am so excited because I've not played with many challenges lately (except the "Everything but the Kitchen Sink" challenge.) It meets the Color Throwdown #63 (see swatch below), the Moxie Fab Gradient is Radiant, and the Cardvaarks Ribbon challenge.
I played with my Copics again to color in the flower, and then I stitched the ribbon by hand using some DMC floss after tacking down the ribbon down in an accordian fold using some red line tape.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I would love to hear your latest plans :)

Christmas preview

Hi Friends,

So, I've told you before that I've been working on Christmas cards. I thought that I'd share one tonight. Please excuse the fact that I've not prettied it up. My computer has been giving me fits tonight, so I just decided to post one that didn't require a lot of editing (but would've looked better with some).

I found this Owl Christmas by Hero Arts at Michaels awhile back, and I resisted for awhile. However, it called to me, I think. So finally with a coupon in hand, I caved in and purchased the set. And I absolutely think it's the cutest set. This is just one card I've made with it. The set contains 4 different owls, and they are all so cute.

This card was made before I got my Copics, so I think I may have to break out the set again and try coloring them in with my Copics.... I just love coloring. I'm still a kid at heart.

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you are all having a good week, and don't forget to participate in the Kitchen Sink Challenge. You have until October 9th to get your entries in. Check Courtney's blog for the deets.

Blessings to you all

Happy Belated World Card-Making Day

Hi Friends,

I hope you all had a great day celebrating World Card-Making Day. I made several cards, photographed them, and now my camera battery is dead and being charged. I will be sharing some of those creations later.

I thought I'd share something I made awhile back for my nephew's birthday. I just invested (and I do mean invested) in some Copic markers. I was able to use a gift card I got from work, so it's really not money out of my pocket which eased the pain somewhat. ANYWAY, this is one of my first attempts at using my copics. The card layout isn't anything spectacular, not a lot of bling, or any for that matter. I figured it is for an 8 year old boy, he's not going to care or appreciate the effort. He's going to be more into what the gift is (especially since we got him Mario Cart for his new Wii).

Enough of my rambling, here is the card

Aren't those robots too cute. I figured an 8 year old boy would like them. I didn't have the foresight to take a photo of the copics I used.. Next time, I'll do better!
Thanks for stopping by, have a blessed Sunday.

A New Challenge

Hi Friends,

I'm so excited to tell you about a new challenge blog that my dear bloggin' pal Courtney has started. She wanted to do something different and boy did she ever come up with a creative idea. It's called "Everything but the Kitchen Sink." This challenge will be dedicated to using items around the house.

Our first challenge was to use something we had gotten in the mail. And was that interesting, especially since I accidentally threw out a bunch of mail at the last moment. At any rate, this is what I came up with:

I used a thank you note from a magazine that I subscribe to, taped in onto some SU! Kraft cardstock (with a scalloped pumpkin pie border behind it), tied some ribbon, added some foofala buttons with twining, corner rounded the corners and done.

Be sure to go check out the designers and what they come up with:

Courtney (One Day at a Time)
Kelly Marie (Lawn Fawn Cards)
Kelley (My Front Porch)
Winter (Winter Wonderland)
Ann (Creative Antics)

Now for the REALLY cool part, since this is a challenge blog, you can participate too! Just use something in your mail and incorporate it into your card design, post it to Mr. Linky at Court's blog by October 9th, and you will have a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to Papertrey Ink!!!! How cool is that???

Good luck, and I cannot wait to see what you come up with!

Birthday flower

Hi Friends,

How are you? I know it's been awhile since I've posted. And I've missed you all!! Today I'm sharing a quick card that I made for one of Carlin's co-workers whose birthday is this week. I needed to do something quick but looked nice. This is a design I use a lot for quick cards.

Check back tomorrow for a surprise... Lots of funness going on in blogo land.

Big hugs!

Sunday evening

Hi Friends,

I hope you've enjoyed your weekend. I have mine, and it's gone by fast. I have to say that normally Mondays are my least favorite day of the week, but not this week. Carlin comes home tomorrow, and I'm really ready for him to be home. It's really hitting me this evening, so I will be glad when he gets home tomorrow. (We are hoping he gets home in time for the early Monday Night Football game since our beloved Colts are playing---GO BLUE!)

Kim, my BFF from high school, and I had our slumber party last night. It was really fun. We watched a chic flick, Bride Wars. You know what, when that was in the theater, I had no desire to see it, but it's really cute. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it.

Enough of my babbling, here's a card for you...

You might recognize the colors from Dawn's most recent color challenge. However, I failed to post it in time. However, the card was still useful as I needed a card for a bridal shower (that I hadn't made a card for), so this is what I used. She's having fall warm colors, so I thought this was close enough.

I'm busy making Christmas cards. I have a friend who's going to various fairs and has graciously offered to take card for me. Plus, I have had 3 co-workers and one friend ask me to do their Christmas cards. So I'm trying to be on top of things. (I am having deja vu, so if I've posted this before, sorry)

Blessings to you my friends

Another reject:)

Hi friends,

I'm posting another card tonight that didn't make the cut for CARDS.

I'm really tired tonight. I just got back from my book club, caught up quickly on reading some blogs, and I'm ready to go to bed. I hope I can sleep tonight since Carlin is traveling. I've gotten used to having him around, so it may prove to be a challenge to sleep. Time will tell.

My mojo is seriously missing, and I've not had time to spend in the craft room to try and locate it. So I need to scout out a challenge and work on something to get my creative juices going. I plan to do some of that this weekend:) Thanks for stopping by.

Blessings

A card!

Hi My Friends

I hope your week is going well. My sweet hubbie is leaving town bright and early tomorrow to head to Washington D.C. for a conference on ensuring healthy churches at Mark Dever's church. He's very excited. But he's being picked up at 5:30 for goodness sakes, so we are going to be heading to night night real soon. He's going to be gone until Monday night :( I was single for a long time before we met and got married, so I'm used to being home alone. I just really love having him around. I know I'm going to miss him. I do have some fun plans to pass the time... A slumber party with my BFF from high school for one:)

Anyway, tonight I'm posting a card that got rejected by CARDS magazine's February submission. I still like even if they didn't consider it publication worthy. Do not feel bad for me though because they did accept two cards that I submitted, and I'm thrilled about that. And I haven't mentioned it previously, but I'm also having two cards published in January. I really have debated about saying anything because I do not want to seem like I'm boasting. I've seen others post their success, and I never thought that they were boasting, so I said what they heck, I'll share. So many of you are my buds, that I want to share my excitement with you.

Geez, I'm sure you are saying, onto the card, why don't you... So without further ado, here it is:

Have a great day friends. For those of you who signed up to swap, I'll send out some deets tomorrow:) I cannot wait.

Blessings!

Nette

No Card tonight

Hi Friends,

No card tonight. They are all stored on my other computer, and I'm too tired to get set up on it. (Let me offer a point of clarity here, I'm on my work laptop now. I do not have two computers to myself -wink-).

I wanted to post a reminder about the holiday swap I'm trying to get going. So far, I've got 4 GREAT cardmakers participating, so if you join in, you are sure to be in store for some delightful cards. Please let me know if you are interested. I'd like to know by the end of the day tomorrow if you are interested so that I can work out the logistics with those participating.

I'm so excited about the upcoming swap!!! I hope you join in!

Thanks girls

Birthday card

Hi Again,

Happy Friday to you all! I've been off this week, and it's gone by so fast. I guess they all do when you're on vacation :)

I have spent some time restocking birthday cards because I found out recently that my supply had gone dry. Today, I'm sharing one that I recently made. I'm actually sending it out the door today to a friend whose birthday is Monday.

Aren't those flowers so cute? They are made my K&C company. I just loved them and think my friend will too.

Have a great weekend

Bad blogger and Swap question??

Hi Dear Friends,

I looked at my blog and realized that it's been well over a week since I've posted. I hope that I still have you stopping by to check in ;)

Life has been really busy here lately. We had our new vinyl flooring and carpet installed this week, and last weekend was spent doing the last minute moving for that. All was installed on Tuesday and Wednesday. And they look fabulous. It's like we have a new house. Of course, it has drawn to my attention more painting and work that needs to be done, but one step at a time, right? I'll get some photos taken (hopefully tomorrow) and post.

I have done some creating and plan to post something tomorrow when I will MAKE time to do some photographing.

Since I do not have a card to post, I wanted to kick out an idea that came to me the other day. Are any of you interested in doing a card swap? I've done this before (not organized) and thought it might be fun. I was thinking of just keeping it as holiday cards (any holiday of your choice), and making a deadline of getting the cards to me by mid-October. The number of swap cards would be determined by the number of people interested in participating. I don't know if there would be any interest but thought it might be a fun way to share ideas. I'll even throw in a prize for Carlin's favorite card :) Let me know by September 15th if you want to participate in the card swap, and we'll see what kind of interest there is out there to do this and work out the details from there:)

I hope you are all doing well. I'm trying to do some catching up on my blog reading too, so if I've not commented, I'll be by soon!

Take care my friends!

Baby card

Hi Friends,
As you may recall, I've got a couple friends who have either had or are soon to have a baby. Today's card features one that I made to send after the baby arrives :)

I'm a little sad today given what SU! will be instituting. Long story, short, since I'm a demonstrator, I can only continue to blog if I use only SU! products (or refuse to mention others that are used). I've been debating about discontinuing my demonstratorship, and this just seals it. I love the paper and inks and the stamps. But there are so many other great companies out there that are frequently coming out with new exciting stuff that I love. So, I think that this was just the final push I needed to make my decision.

ANYWAY, enough of that rambling, here's tonight's card, and I'm off to bed!

Thanks for stopping by! Many blessings to you all!

SPCC12 number 2

Hi Again,

This will be much shorter, but I did want to share the second card I made using the SPCC color combo.

I just love this little Hero Arts giraffe. Isn't it just the cutest thing?

Have a great evening my friends :)

SPCC 12 and awards

Hi Friends,

This is going to be a big of a hefty post today because I have some catching up to do. First things first, here is one entry in the SPCC color Challenge. I actually made two cards for this, so I will likely be posting the second card shortly after this post.

Next, I've been so fortunate to receive some blog awards lately. And I've been very bad about passing them on. I want you all to know that when I receive something like this it really really makes my day. Me not passing them along has nothing to do with lack of appreciation. Truly, it seems that most of the people I would forward them onto have already been included on someone's list. This first award called "Eye Like your Style" came from Kristina. You should check out her blog, she's a diva at SPCC and creates some really cute stuff.

Winter passed along The Karma Award: "These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind of bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly written text into the body of their award." I need to choose 8 blog to pass this on to.

Kelly Marie and Kelley both gave me the "One Lovely Blog Award"

And I got a sweet shout out from that dear Courtney.

I tell you I am overwhelmed by the kindness. I enjoy blogging more than I ever imagined, and it's because of the kind people I've "met" through doing this. I truly hope to meet you all in person some day. As Kelly Marie has said, it's like pen pals when we were kids.

I'm going to list some blogs that I enjoy visiting. I encourage you to visit the previously listed blogs as these girls have been such blessings to me.

Jessi and Rachel at Stampin with Jessi and Rachel

Amber at FlourGirl (non-paper crafting but yummy baked goodness)

Seriously, there are so many talented blogs out there. I could list so many. Many that I went to plug in here have already been listed in the linked posts, so I'm not going to duplicate them. Follow the links and the links within them, and you are sure to be inspired.

Thanks for sticking with me thru this long post!

2S4Y

Hi Friends,

Happy Saturday! I cannot believe it's been since Tuesday that I posted (no wonder I felt like something was missing !). I wanted to submit something for the 2S4Y challenge, so this is my entry.
I did some paper piecing which I haven't done in ages, but it seemed to lend itself well to this stamped image.

I hope you have a great day!

Raspberry Suite Challenge #15

Hi Friends,

I hope you're all doing well. I'm in a time warp, I have thought all day that today was Wednesday, but alas it was not, of course. Guess it was just wishful thinking, but tomorrow is, so I'll have it right then:)

I made a card for Dawn's color challenge. The colors are so pretty, so I really wanted to play. Here's her swatch (aren't they just yummy):

And here's my take on the challenge. I had trouble getting the melony gems to photograph, but hopefully you can tell that the gems on the ivory flowers are the melon/orange color. I also did some clear embossing of those lovely Damask images. So, you can see I'm still hung up on the clear embossing and now have added the flowers to the mix. (You know I go in phases). The flower phase could last awhile as I have a lot of flowers because they sell those in packages of several. I will try (TRY) not to overdo it. :)

Have a wonderful WEDNESDAY tomorrow my friends. I'm off to bed now.

SPCC 11 and fun mail

Hi Friends,

I know I've been a little behind on posting. I have to confess that last week was one of the most stressful weeks I have had at work in a long time. I won't bore you with the details, but I was absolutely drained each evening. I tried to check in on my favorite blogging buds, but even that I fell behind.

This weekend I was able to play around with some of my paper which is always a good stress reliever. Although I have to admit, that when I've not crafted in awhile, it takes me a bit to get back in the groove. Does that happen to any of you?? Work definitely gets in the way of my crafting fun!

First off, I got a card done for the SPCC challenge
Let me tell you that I STRUGGLED with this challenge. First, I hadn't stamped in awhile and mojo was missing as stated above :) Then I found that I do not own Green Galore. In the end, i went with Certainly Celery which is close. I absolutely love Soft Suede (another of the new SU! In Colors).

Enough of my rambling, here is what I cam up with:
In the end, I am pleased with how it turned out. In fact, I have a confession to make, you are probably going to be seeing much more of the leaves and the flowers in my upcoming posts. I'm on a kick right now. So you are forewarned ;)

Lastly, I got some fun mail last week which was truly a blessing since I was having a bad week, getting this in the mail was like Christmas in August :) Maile B. had agreed to do and exchange of sorts (some die cut images from me and some stamped images from her), so when I received all of this, I was stunned. What a sweetie. Once again, I am convinced that paper crafters are just the sweetest people out there. Thank you again for your generousity, Maile.

If you've hung with me this long, thanks! I hope that you all enjoy the remaining hours of the weekend.

Blessings

Nette
