Cards for St. Jude

Hi Friends,

Happy New Year. I hope your 2010 is off to a great start.  Today, I’m very excited to tell you about an opportunity to use our craft to help out some sick kiddos.  That dear sweet Winter is organizing it, and here is what she says along with instructions to participate.

A year ago this January 14, I started my blog. So for my blogversary for whole month of January, I have decided to do something for others.My family and I are going on vacation in February and as I was making plans for that, the Lord showed me that St. Jude Hospital was right on our way, and He laid on my heart to make cards for the patients there! I felt a little overwhelmed at first, because they see about 200 patients a day, but I soon felt that the Lord will provide the cards. If we all pull together, we can make this happen.
It is so sad to think of all the sick children there. So I am hoping that it will bring a smile to their face and a little more love in their hearts, when they receive their card on Valentine's Day. My family and I will be dropping off all of the cards to St. Jude Hospital, so please send them to me.We have been supporters of St. Jude's for many years, so I am really excited about this experience, and I hope you will join me in this card drive!

* Cards need to be a Valentine theme.
* Cards can't have anything about 'Get Well Soon', 'Feel Better', or anything reminding them of being sick. (Only Valentine Cards)
* Please make cards that can be used for any gender or age.
* Cards must be able to fit into a 4 1/2 X 5 3/4 envelope. (I will provide clear envelopes for each card, so there is no need to send one with it.)
* Please send all cards to me:

* You can include a message in the inside, but please remember, nothing reminding them of being sick. (Maybe just a Valentine sentiment.)
You can also sign your name and where you are from.
* I will be excepting cards for the whole month of January. At the end of the month, I will pick random winners for the prizes.
I will be adding more prizes, often. The more cards you send, the more times your name goes into the drawing.
* Please send a piece of paper with your name, address, email address, and the amount of cards you sent. (It will help, when I have the drawing.)
* If anyone wants to donate a prize for the drawings, please email me with the details at marcussim@aol.com .
I want to Thank everyone for your support in this card drive, I couldn't have done it with out you!  I really think, the patients will love the cards!

End of 2009

Hi Friends,

Wow, can you believe that this is the end of 2009? Where did the time go? The year just flew by. And speaking of time flying, we're about to enter the next decade of the 2000's. I remember the 1999 New Year's eve like it was yesterday.

I know everyone will be making resolutions, and I am no exception. But I also think that it's a good time to count our blessings. I am so grateful for how the Lord has blessed me. And I want my blogging friends (that's you) to know that I count you amongst my blessings. Thanks for visiting my blog, taking time to comment, and for your friendship. I treasure the people I've met through this blog, and I look forward to forging more friendships and deepening those existing friendships into 2010.

So, for today's card, I truly don't remember if I've shared it or not. I do not think I have, but if it's a repeat, please accept my apologies. I hope you like it!

EBTKS Challenge

Well, today is the day. The next EBTKS challenge. This one is hosted by the super talented Ann. She chose gift wrap as the household item. Pretty timely choice I think.. I don’t know about you, but I still have plenty of gift wrap laying around (of course, you are not restricted to Christmas gift wrap).

Long break

HI Sweet friends,

I hope you are still out there.  I know I’ve been absent for a long time. I had a lot going on and just had to take a break from the blogging for awhile. 

While I was on hiatus, there was another Everything But the Kitchen Sink Sketch Challenge, and we have another challenge winner and 2 more divas.

Check out these fabulous creations.  Wow was it hard to decide.  As usual, you all dazzled us with your creations.  You should go check out our winner and divas’ blogs (Teresa, Travelingmama, and Paloma) .

Tomorrow, we have another challenge using materials from around the house. I think you all will like this one…. Be sure to check back.

Part of the reason I was absent was due to a business trip to South Africa.  Now, usually my business trips do not entail going to such amazing locations.  So this opportunity was a real blessing.  We did take some extra time to see some of the amazing sites along the beautiful garden route of South Africa (which is along the southern coast of the country).  I thought I’d share some photos of the trip…

I won’t post anymore here, but I’m going to be putting up an album for you to look through if you’re interested. It is truly an amazingly beautiful country. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to visit.

EBTKS Challenge

Hi Ya,

Well, it’s the end of the month, and you know what that means. Another challenge from the Everything but the Kitchen Sink group. This month’s host is Kelley Eubanks, and the regular household item she chose for us to use in our creations was “toothpicks.”

The first thing I thought of when I got the challenge info was making a fence out of toothpicks, so that’s what I went with.

I will be absent most of the next week as I am off on a business trip.

Raspberry Suite Color Challenge 19

Hi Friends,

I hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving. We certainly did. Good food, time with family, we certainly have a lot to be thankful for.

I had to make a card for Dawn’s latest color challenge. I really like these colors. I may end up making some more cards using these colors. They look so good together.
