Lawn Fawn Critters in the Sea

Hi Friends!

I’m so excited today that I get to share the first sample for the next Lawn Fawn stamp set release. As you may have guessed, it’s called “Critters in the Sea”, and it’s loaded with fun sea life. There are so many ideas I have running through my head. I cannot wait to spend more time with these happy stamps. For today, I’m going to share this card with you:

I know, it’s a pink whale! Whoever heard of such a thing? Well, in world of card-making, it’s allowed. I struggle in my mind with thinking, um there’s no such thing as a pink whale (I am just too literal, a realist). I’m trying to branch out and just run with the inspiration and not get hung up on things like there not being any such thing as a pink whale :) The striped patterned paper really dictated the colors, so I really had no choice (hee!). I wanted the card to be bright, fun and cheery, just like these fun little sea critters. See the sentiment, in the set, it’s really a one line, but it’s so easy to just ink the words you want included for a multiple line sentiment.

Go to the Lawn Fawn blog to see the other designers’ cards. I think you’re going to be so inspired and ready to get your hands on this set of stamps! (And it’s only day one, there are two more sets to show you).

Everything but the Kitchen Sink

Hi Friends,

Happy Memorial Day weekend. I hope you are all enjoying the long weekend. For those of you who are in the military or have family in the military, thank you for your service. You are in my prayers. My family and I truly appreciates the sacrifices you make in order to preserve the freedoms we cherish here in the United States.

Today is the day for the next Everything but the Kitchen Sink around the house challenge. It was Kelly Marie’s turn to host, and she picked nail polish. What a cool idea! For my card, I painted the pearls in my flowers with nail polish. I essentially used it like Smooch (which I only recently took the plunge and purchased some.) I also painted the lightest flower with some pale aqua nail polish. In real life, it's got a nice shimmer (that I was unable to capture in the photo).

I almost forgot to mention that we have a really cool sponsor, Denami Design is giving a $30 gift certificate to the winner! Have you seen their stuff? This is definitely something I would be able to put to use (I know I say that a lot!).

This is a really cool weekend to be in Indianapolis, with the big race. We’re not going to the race, and we won’t be able to watch it until after the race is over. But it is still pretty cool. We live fairly close to the track and can even hear the cars if we are out on our deck. (This is really just a testimony to how loud the race cars are). Every race, they do a military flyover, and from our house, we can see the military planes fly in their patterns as they prepare to go to the speedway. The years that I have gone to the race, that always gives me goose bumps when they fly over. So seeing them prepare is awesome too.

I look forward to seeing what you do with the challenge. Be sure to check out the Everything but the Kitchen Sink blog to see the other designers creations.

AND, tomorrow begins the debut of the next Lawn Fawn release. You’re not going to want to miss this one, there 3 great new sets coming out that you are going to love.

EDTA: This card also meets the criteria for the Off the Wall Craftiness challenge that is giving away a set of Copics from iCopic!! I'm definitely going to link up for that challenge.

God Bless

2 Sketches for You

Hi Friends,

I love long weekends… {big happy sigh}.  It’s been so productive for us. We’ve gotten a lot done around the house.  We’ve been behind on outside work, mainly due to rain and busy schedules. We’ve pulled a lot of weeds, pruned some shrubs, planted some pots and some groundcover.  I’m pretty sore and tired, but it feels good all the same.  It’s nice to get that work done and see something for our efforts.

In keeping with my week, I’m once again, getting a challenge post in right under the wire.  It’s for 2 Sketches for You. I got to use some more of the Cosmo Cricket DeLovely paper…. I need to buy stock in Cosmo Cricket because I love love love their paper.

2sfy

I also used some of their chipboard which has lots of fun stuff.  (I do not work for Cosmo Cricket, but how fun would that be???)

Hugs and blessings.

Hi Friends,

Tonight is the night! I've picked the winner of the blog candy. I did this by numbering all the entries first then the blog followers. I threw out duplicate entries, deleted entries and myself from the followers. With that, there were 119 total entries. After some struggling (because I am not savvy with technology), I got a winning number

Random Integer Generator
Here are your random numbers:

40

Timestamp: 2010-05-28 04:38:06 UTC

And number 40 was.....

You on the edge of your seat?????

It was Kim Wilson who said:

"Awww Lynnette you are so awesome for offering such a great prize! My current challenge has some Lawn Fawn up for grabs and I sooo wish I could enter LOL! Thank you for the chance to win deary!"

Congrats Kim!! Shoot me an email, and I'll mail off your goodies:) And for those of you who've not visited her blog, she runs an awesome weekly challenge that is always fun with great goodies! You should go check it out at Off the Wall Craftiness.

I want to thank you all for playing along. I had a blast doing this, I feel like I met some new people. I really appreciate the sweet comments. I tried to email people, but many of you had "no-reply", so I couldn't. Just know that I had a wonderful time doing this and plan to do it again, so I hope you continue to stop by!

And if this wasn't enough excitement, Lawn Fawn is set to release more stamps next week, so be sure to check the previews that begin on Monday. You're going to love what's coming up!

Two Challenges

Hi There!

It’s another late post for me. What can I tell you but this week has been busy. Tonight, when I got home, I baked cupcakes for my dear sweet hubby’s birthday tomorrow. I made peanut cupcakes with peanut butter fudge icing. I think they turned out pretty tasty. I must confess that the last few are not pretty. I was tired, so I was just slapping the icing on them. I made mini cupcakes and full sized ones that I also filled with the icing (first attempt at this, so let’s hope the results are okay).

Tonight’s card is doing double-duty. It’s for the Off the Wall Craftiness challenge to use lemon yellow and aqua blue in creating a shower themed card. I also used the the Card Patterns sketch.

DSC_0003_edited-1

See that yummy patterned paper, yep, it’s new from Cosmo Cricket, “DeLovely,” and let me tell you it is. And of course, I had to use the Lawn Fawn set “Partly Cloudy” because it fit the theme, and I just love it :)

One last reminder, tomorrow is the deadline for the blog candy giveaway, so there is still time to sign up. I hope you will.

Play Date Cafe Challenge (under the wire)

Hi Friends,

Wow, this week is shaping up to be BUSY!  I’m not complaining because it is all fun stuff.

However, it is late, so this is gotta be a short post. Tonight’s card is for both the Play Date Cafe (to use light yellow, pink and green) and the CPS current sketch.

I played with some new Spellbinders dies that I got over the weekend, LOVING these.

Have a great day and remember there are two days left for the blog candy!!

A Card:)

Hi Friends,

How was your Monday?  I hope you’ve had a great start to your week.  I did, but boy I am so tired now. I ran several errands after work and zapped myself.  I’m a zombie right now.  Needless to say, this will be a pretty short post.

Tonight’s card is for a couple of challenges, the Embellish challenge, and the Gallery Idol contest by Paper Crafts (I told myself I wasn’t going to enter this, but I’ve caved in).

Check out the Embellish challenge photo, so pretty. Don’t you just love weddings? I want to get married again… to Carlin, but I’d like to do it again. I just loved these colors, and butterflies (HELLO, I love butterflies), so sign me up.

Here’s my card

DSC_0041

You know I’m really loving the crinkled ribbon look. I don’t know how others do it (I’ve not watched some of the videos floating out there). I just run a needle and thread through the middle of the ribbon and pull it.  I glued it down with some 3 in 1 craft glue (very similar to Zip Dry).  The black lace is from May Arts, and I love it.  The cream ribbon is Offray and I actually distressed it with Ranger distress inks.  How about that patterned paper??  It’s made by Kaiser Craft (Tea at Elsie’s), and is so pretty.

Thanks for stopping by friends, and remember to sign up for some blog candy, the deadline is Thursday (and I’m probably to do the random pick on Friday Morning).

Hugs!

Lynnette

Here are the other supplies not mentioned above:

Stamps:  Hero Arts (sentiment), Paper Trey Ink (butterfly and trail)

Ink: Memento, Ranger distress inks

Jewelry Post

Hi Friends,

I hope you’ve had a good weekend. I cannot believe it’s Sunday already.  I love Sundays.  I love worshipping and fellowshipping (is this a word) with my church family (and part of my biological family since my nephew and brother attend the same church).  I have to admit that despite my love of the day, I always also have a sense of remorse as I know I have to return to work tomorrow.  Now, I am loving my new job, so Mondays are a lot more pleasant than they had been in recent years!

Anyway, today, I am sharing a bracelet and earrings ensemble that I made for a girl at church who is getting married in July.  This is my shower gift to her (her shower was last weekend, and I missed it due to my traveling).

DSC_0002

Let me tell you if you think photographing cards and editing them is challenging, jewelry is more so, at least for me. This photo does not do the bracelet justice.  It’s much more sparkly in real life. Can you make out the dangle at the front of the photo?  It’s a light blue Swarovski crystal, so she will have something blue to wear on her wedding day :)

I don’t have a decent enough photo of the earrings to share, but I’ll try again.  They coordinate with the bracelet and have the freshwater pearls and Swarovski crystals too.

Remember, I have a blog candy give away going on, I’d love for you to sign up!

Have a very blessed day friends.

Mojo still MIA

Hi Friends,

Well, as you may have guessed my mojo hasn’t returned. (Karen I even checked under the bed as you suggested but not there.)

Personally, I miss it when I visit blogs and don’t see any new stuff. So I’ve put additional pressure on myself to come up with something to share.  And truthfully, I’ve not liked anything I’ve created, so much so, that I would be embarrassed to post it.  Since I’ve been in this dilemma of wanting to share something, but not coming up with anything, I had an epiphany!  I am going to share two cards that were published in the February 2010 CARDS magazine.

anniversaryfeb2010

This card was for the “brads” category, and it actually was on a section break, two page spread (which was very exciting for me!)

DSC_0100  This card was for the “scallops” category.

I was so excited to have cards accepted for publication, and that excitement doesn’t go away.  I really encourage you to try it if you are interested.  Just realize that if you are sensitive (and I am), you run the risk of getting hurt feelings if you submit and do not get accepted.  Remember this, it is not necessarily a reflection of your work, it just may be what they are looking for.  In fact, some of my all time favorite cards were passed over while other cards that I was ho-hum about (and nearly didn’t submit) have been picked.  I think it’s random.  Just submit your best work and see what happens. But do not take it personally (as much as you can).

Now, as a reminder…I have a blog candy give away going on.  See this post.  If you win, you will get to see these cards in the February Magazine.  If you’ve not signed up for a chance at the blog candy, I hope you will.

Thanks for stopping by!

Blog Candy

Hi Friends

I’m back from my weekend get away.  I had a great time with Demaree and at Mia’s birthday party.

I don’t have anything to post because I’ve been out of the craft room, and the mojo is missing in action.  So, I thought I’d give away some blog candy. I’ve been wanting to do this for awhile, and now is the time.  Here is what is up for grabs:

DSC_0009

  • Two Lawn Fawn Stamp sets (Sew Lovely and Partly Cloudy)
  • Two issues of CARDS magazines (January and February)

I’m not going to make you jump through all sorts of hoops to be eligible to win.  Just leave a comment, and you’ll be entered. All followers of my blog will automatically get an entry, SO you could get two entries if you leave a comment and become a follower.

This will be open until 6:00p.m. EDT on 27 May (Carlin’s birthday).

Best of luck all, and have a blessed day

Everything but the Kitchen Sink

Hi There

Well, it's time for another Everything but the Kitchen Sink Sketch challenge. It was Courtney's turn to host this one, and based it on a stack of books. Love that idea! You can truly find inspiration anywhere!
Here's what it looks like: Here's my take on it. I know the colors are a bit autumnal, but I love the Cosmo Cricket paper and wanted to show it some love!

See that big orange flower, that was a gift from the uber sweet Ann from the EBTKS design team. It was some fun mail she sent me awhile back, and I've been hoarding ever since... I finally forced myself to use one.
The sponsor of this challenge is SEI, and they have offered up an amazing prize package. I hope you decide to play along!! Be sure to go check out the EBTKS blog to see the other DT creations!

Thursday, May 13, 2010

Hi Friends,
Thanks for stopping by! I have to admit that I honestly do not remember if I've posted this card before or not. If I have, my apologies for the redundancy.
I really like this card, and it was a quick and easy one to make.
I embossed the base of the card, and I made the flowers from punched out hearts. I used the Cosmo Cricket Girl Friday paper.

Thanks for stopping by.

2 Sketches for you and Off the Wall Craftiness

Hi Friends,

How is your week?  I am so excited that tomorrow is Thursday!  I’m leaving after work to go visit my friend, Demaree, and the cutie pie Mia.  (and the rest of the family).  I am so  thrilled to be going to see them. It’s been awhile, and this will be a nice getaway.

So, today’s card is for both the 2 Sketches for You and the Off the Wall Craftiness.  Here’s the sketch:

sketch1 DSC_0298

he Off the Wall Craftiness challenge was to use peacock colors which I love, so I really wanted to play along.  I just got this Stampendous set and was dying to use it.

Hope you check in while I’m away, I’ve got posts scheduled, and the next EBTKS challenge is coming up on the 15th (Sunday).

Have a goodie!

Wednesday

Hi Friends,

Wow, this week is flying by.  I thought it was Tuesday.  I guess it’s because I’m going out of town for the weekend, and I’ve got a lot to do in order to get ready.

Since I’m rushing to get ready to work, this post will be a short one.  I’m sharing a recent pub reject that I love.  DSC_0259

I just think these monsters are so cute and love the little caption bubbles, but oh well.  Just goes to show that you never know what the magazines are looking for.

I hope you like though.  Thanks for stopping by!

Monday

Hi There

How was your Monday friends?  This is going to be a short post because I am tired. I’m feeling really run down and need to get to bed.

I do want to remind you all to participate in the Everything But the Kitchen Sink Challenge.  There is a great prize of Ippity stamps up for grabs.

Today’s post is a card I made awhile back. It’s using one of the first sets released from Lawn Fawn, How Delightful.  I added some bling to it by putting gems on the chandelier.

DSC_0191

The Paper is Cosmo Cricket (Seriously, I should buy some of their stock).  The gems are My Mind’s eye.

Have a great day!

2 Sketches for you

Hi Friends

Happy Friday! We made it to the weekend.  I am sure that you all share the sentiment with me, that we LOVE the weekends:)    We don’t have much planned. We’re going to watch a movie tonight (Coming to America----an oldie but oh so funny).  We’ll see my mom on Sunday. (Carlin’s mom and dad live 3 hours away and were off to a wedding this weekend, but we sent her some flowers).  What are your plans for the weekend?  Moms, do you have plans with your kiddos? Or what are you doing for your mom?  I hope that we all got cards out to our moms!

Anyway, I meant to post this card last night, but I was too tired. I thought I could go to bed around 5:00, but wouldn’t you know it, I got a second wind around 10 and then couldn’t fall asleep.  Why is it that I get my second wind when I should be falling asleep??

Onto today’s card, I made it for Mia’s birthday ( you may remember her card I  made awhile back).  I’m going up there next weekend to visit her (and her mom) and to attend her birthday party.  Well, Miss Mia is really into Princesses and pink, so I thought that this card would fit the bill! Hope you like!DSC_0240

I thought it also met the requirements of the current 2 Sketches for You challenge :)  If you have a little girl who likes princesses, this Hero Arts set (Magical Castle) fits the bill. It’s TOO CUTE.laura's_sketch_51_

One last thing, the EBTKS challenge is still ongoing.  The challenge is to use envelopes, and there’s a fabulous Ippity set up for grabs.  I hope you play along!

Have a good weekend!

More Lawn Fawn goodness

Hi Friends,

So have you placed your Lawn Fawn order yet?  Truly the stamps are so fun with so many creative possibilities. And there are so many ways to combine them.  (I have other ideas in my little brain that I will be working on).

The card I’m sharing now, is one that I made for the reveal. In the end, I ended up giving Kelly another one, but I still like the card. I think the phone paired with the little caption bubbles is so fun!  I’m sure you will see more of this in the future.

DSC_0167

I used Cosmo Cricket’s Boyfriend paper again. That paper line goes so well with the Just my Type set.  I just love Cosmo Cricket’s paper…. all of them!

On another note, I’ve been talking with some blogging buddies about organizing a World Card-Making Day (which is October 2nd, I believe), and I’m wondering if any other blogging buddies would be interested.  There’s a cool retreat outside of Indianapolis that has all the amenities, and supplies all the food, beds, etc.  for a flat fee.  Here’s a link: Treasured Memories Retreat.  Now, I need to state up front that I’ve not checked their availability, so a plan “B” might have to be enacted. Also, I’m not committed to this place, it’s just a place that I know of, and I’ve toured it (very nice). Plus I know they are good cooks, the owner did our wedding cake (YUMMMO).

Have a goodie!

Lawn Fawn on sale

Hi Friends,

Today is the day, the new Lawn Fawn sets are on sale, so go get them before they run out:)
For today's card, Kelly asked us to combine a Lawn Fawn set with other stamps. I chose to combine two Lawn Fawn Sets, one from the first release(Sew Lovely), and one from this release (Just my Type)Be sure to get over to the Lawn Fawn Blog to check out what the rest of the design team came up with!
For my card, I just saw the scissors in action combined with the sewing machine...And of course, I had to use the Cosmo Cricket Material Girl paper. I hope you aren't too sick of it yet. I promse to get away from it (for awhile at least--smile). I also used some fun May Arts lace.

So happy shopping, get over to the Lawn Fawn store!

Lawn Fawn Partly Cloudy

Hi Friends,

I hope your week is off to a great start. Today is another reveal day from the new Lawn Fawn Stamps. Today's samples are from "Partly Cloudy" which is super cute. It's versatile in that you can use it for "shower" cards or even cards to cheer up your recipient. I'm sure there are tons of other uses that I've not thought of. I'm sure you're going to like it.

I have two samples to share today. I made two cards and couldn't decide which to go with.

(How fun is that smiley face??? I love it!)
This paper is from My Mind's Eye and coordinates wonderfully with this set.
Be sure to check out the Lawn Fawn blog for the other designers' samples.
God bless

Lawn Fawn Just My Type Too....

Hi There

Happy Monday! This is a happy Monday because more of the next Lawn Fawn release is being revealed today. Today's set is called "Just My Type Too," and, as you might imagine, it coordinates with the "Just My Type." It contains a bunch of sayings and single words to build your own saying. It's so versatile. You can use it with "Just My Type" or on its own.
In my card, I really just wanted to use the sentiments. But when I got the idea to use the corkboard and have the sentiments posted on it like memos, I just had to thrown in the push pins.
I did the same trick as Jessica with the push pins, I used some Crystal Effects which adds some dimension and sturdiness to the tacks :)

The patterned paper is Cosmo Cricket the Boyfriend which also coordinates wonderfully with the sets.

Be sure to go to Kelly's blog to check out more details and also visit the design team's blogs

Have a great day, and be sure to come back tomorrow.... Yet another sneaky peak to come!!!
Blessings

Play Date Cafe

Hi Friends

I hope you’ve had a great weekend.  It’s gone by fast, but I always feel like that.

Tonight’s card is for this week’s Play Date Cafe.  The colors to be used were blue, green and off white.  I love these colors which is why it was surprising that it was difficult for me to come up with something.

DSC_0201

This is what I ended up with. I hope you like.

Be sure to check back in tomorrow for the next reveal for the upcoming Lawn Fawn release!  (Such cuteness that will be available to purchase in just a few short days!)

Hugs!

2 Sketches for You

Hi Friends

I hope you are having a good first day of May!  Wow, I cannot believe it’s May already. Time flies.

I made a card for the 2S4Y and wanted to post it today. Of course, I’m getting it in under the wire again.

In the spirit of the new Lawn Fawn Sets being released, I decided to use one of the previous sets, Sew Lovely.  If you’ve visited my blog much, you know that I love to paper piece with this set.

DSC_0188

I used some of that yummy Cosmo Cricket Material Girl paper.  It goes so well with this set.  I stitched around edge of the yellow layer.  It seemed appropriate :)

Thanks for dropping by today.  Enjoy your weekend

God bless
