2010 Top Ten

Hi Friends

Wow, it’s been a long time since I posted. I didn’t start out intending to take a break for Christmas, but it just sort of happened that way. I’ve been enjoying some time off from work and spending time with my hubby and our family.

I hope you all enjoyed a very blessed Christmas. We certainly did.

Today, I wanted to do a top ten post.  I got the idea from Kelly Marie who got the idea from someone else.  Go to her blog to check out her amazing projects from 2010.

Before I share some of my favorite projects of 2010, I want to ask you to come by on Monday 3 January, as I get to be part of something new, fun and exciting!  I think a lot of you will enjoy it too, so please stop back by and check it out.

So here we go….Here are some of my favorite projects from 2010 (in no particular order):

I hope you enjoy the look back.  Let me know if you do something similar. I’d love to come and check back your trip down memory lane!

So what are your plans for New Year’s Eve? Any resolutions?  For us, we’re staying in and will likely watch movies or 24 Season 8. I’m making us fun appetizers.  As far as resolutions are concerned, I’m focusing on my relationship with Christ, being more diligent in bible study, scripture memorization and praying for others.  Carlin and I are going to do a study on 1 John together.

And, of course, I’m vowing to lose weight. I actually started in 2010. I’ve lost some weight and am committed to continuing its progress. Carlin got me Zumba for the Wii, so that is convenient.

I wish for you all a very safe New Year’s eve, and I look forward to blogging with you in 2011.

Hugs and blessings.

So, there’s still a chance at winning these uber fun stamps! Good luck in the giveaway!

For my post today, I’m sharing a bag that I made using a few different Lawn Fawn stamps. As you know, one of my favorite things about Lawn Fawn Stamps is how well they coordinate together.

DSC_0055

I used Judy’s Blooms, Sophie’s Sentiments, and Fly Free to make this bag. I made it awhile ago (for a pub call that wasn’t accepted). Someday, I will use it to package a gift to a dear friend :)

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great start to your week.

Blog Candy winner!!!

Hi Friends

Thank you all for the sweet birthday wishes.  I’ve had a really great day.  It did start off with an early morning meeting but continued to improve steadily from there.

I know you are all interested in who won the blog candy, so here’s the scoop… Between November 28 and December 8 at 8:00pm, I had 190 posts (thank you for those SO SO MUCH).  I put the numbers into random number generator who churned out the following:

randomnumber copy

I went and counted out from the first post to find the 33rd post, and identified our winner. And the winner is Laurel who said…

Laurel said... now these are just FABULOUS. Absolutely FABULOUS!!! I love these and have saved a picture of your cards to use as inspiration! LOVE LOVE LOVE these

I’d like to thank Laurel for her kind words.  She’s such a sweetie. She’s got a fun blog that you should really check out.  I have to say that through Twitter I’ve been getting to know Laurel more and thoroughly enjoying it. Congrats Laurel, please email  me your address, and I’ll get your loot mailed out to you!

Thanks again for playing along!  I appreciate you all stopping by and leaving comments.

Hugs and blessings.

Gift bags, tags, and blog candy

HI Friends!

Well, today is your last day to sign up for a chance at the blog candy I’m giving away.  See my post here for the goodies up for grabs!  You have until 8:00 pm EST today (Wednesday December 8th). Today is my birthday, and I wanted to do this give away as a gift to one of you who comments.  This is a birthday present I’m giving to myself.

I’d also like to share some photos of some of the gift bags and tags I’ve made recently.  These didn’t take all that long because I used patterned paper (and was able to use a lot of scraps). It was so nice because I was able to do it while Carlin and I watched tv.

First up, gift bags… These are just some that I made, and I love having a coordinating tag to go along with the bag. Makes me happy to have matching things…

Next up tags…

I seriously don’t know if I have enough gifts for all of these.

Here are some closer up shots…

I hope you liked the glimpses of how some of our gifts will be packaged. I’ve so enjoyed making these guys.

As always, thanks for stopping by. I cannot wait to pick and announce the winner.

Hugs and blessings to you all

Male Birthday Card

Hi Friends,

I hope you’re having a great week. I don’t know about you, but this time of year just flies by for me. I love Christmas. I wish it didn’t come and go so quickly.

Today, I’m sharing a card that I made a week or so ago for a co-worker who was celebrating his 50th birthday.

DSC_0036

I think it's a common theme for us girls, the struggle to create cards for men. I love ribbons, bows, gems, cutesy, and none of those things are real manly. So I always think cards for men need to be simpler. This is where I landed for the above card. My co-worker seemed to like it and really appreciated that it was handmade.

Now, for some of you who've had questions last week, I've not forgotten you! Tonight I will tackle my favorite.....

Coloring: I enjoy, no, I LOVE, coloring with Copic markers. I'm still learning and have a long way to go in developing the skill. But I'm enjoying the process SO much. The markers are an investment. I was fortunate to start my collection off because I had gotten a gift card. There are several blog with good tips, such as Debbie Olsen (she's a legend, seriously), Marianne Walker, and Nichol Magouirk did a great post on some of her favorite Copic colors.

For coloring on darker colors, colored pencils are grand! I also enjoy opaque markers when coloring on craft or darker colored cardstock. But truly my fall back are my Copics. They are so fun to blend and shade. I feel like I'm a kid again coloring :)

Anyway, I hope this was somewhat useful. I know I punted to some other blogs for info, but those have been great resources. And those ladies truly have much more experience than I do.

Remember, I do have the blog candy up for grabs.... You have until 8:00 p.m. EST on December 8th to comment on blog posts between November 28 and December 8. I will randomly select a winner and announce who that is on the 9th. Good luck!

Hugs and blessings

Blog Candy

Hi Friends,

Happy Monday! I hope you had a fabulous weekend. Our weekend was wonderful. We got our first snow of the season which did prevent us from attending a dear friend’s birthday party.

I’m officially in Christmas mode.  I started to wrap gifts, nearly finished Christmas cards (Just need to complete interior, sign and mail), and made some gift bags with coordinating tags. I’ll take some photos of them and share with you later.

Today, I’m finally going to show you the blog candy I’m giving away.  To enter, all you have to do is leave a comment on my blog between November 28 and December 8.  You can comment on one post or all of them, so if you comment on all of them, your chances increase.

Want to see what is in the blog candy package??  Take a look:

DSC_0050

There’s some magazines (CARDS, Simply Stamping, and CardMaker), rub-ons, chip board, spary mist, stamps (by Denami and Unity), and other alterables.  Oh, and also, included in this giveaway but not pictured are:

November CARDS Publications

Hi Friends,

I am afraid I don’t have anything freshly created to share with you tonight. So I thought I’d share some cards (or tag) that I had published in the November issue of CARDS magazine.

Here they are:

DSC_0002-1

I am very excited that they both featured Lawn Fawn stamps.

Sorry but this has to be a quick post. Have a great day friends. For those of you who’ve left me questions on the blog, I promise to respond in a post in the very near future!

Hello Friend

Well, Hello Friends

Today, I get to show you the last of the upcoming Lawn Fawn releases. This set is called “Hello Friend.” it’s a set that is full of “friendly” sentiments that I am sure you will find many MANY uses for.

Here’s what I came up with for my sample:

DSC_0110

I just love this sentiment and thought that it would be so perfect to send to some of my friends who are far off. I’m very blessed to have friends all over the world, and this sentiment is just perfect for them. And it pairs SO nicely with the Studio Calico Documentary line, don’t you think?? I also broke out the Tim Holtz Sizzix die that I just adore. There’s lots of distressing with Ranger inks on this card too. I really enjoy that effect, I think it softens the lines and just adds some “patina” to cards.

Anyway, be sure to check out the other designers’ cards. Latisha, Lea, Mariana, Teri, Tiff. Also, go to the Lawn Fawn blog to sign up for a chance to win.

Remember, I’m doing a big giveaway to a random commenter between Sunday November 28 and December 8. I’ll start showing you some sneak peeks at what’s up for grabs on Thursday.

Thank you all for your sweet comments and well wishes on the Paper Crafts publication. I am quite excited as I’m a newbie to this magazine. I’ve not been submitting as much recently due to LIFE. I hope to be able to do more of that in upcoming publication calls. I’ve said it before, if you are interested in being published, go for it. Just be persistent. I submitted to Paper Crafts for a year before they picked up something of mine, so keep at it. Having said all this, do not let it become an obsession or stressor, or worse yet, cause you to become discouraged about your creations. It’s easy to slip into all of those, believe me, I speak from experience.

Have a blessed day friends.

Lynnette

Supplies:

Stamps: Lawn Fawn “Hello Friend”

Ink: Memento, Stampin’ Up! Ranger distress ink (Antique Linen)

Paper: Neenah, Stampin’ Up!

Patterned Paper: Studio Calico Documentary

Everything but the Kitchen Sink

Hi Folks

Another post today! Wow, this is a record and a busy time. I’m horribly late in posting this.

Today, it’s time for another Everything but the Kitchen Sink Challenge. Also, it’s the last challenge for this little challenge blog.  We’re all a little melancholy about it, but all of our schedules have just gotten so crazy that we’re having trouble keeping up. So, thank you for playing along all this time and for sharing your fabby creations.

Ann is hosting this last challenge and has a fabulous prize package from Limelight Papercrafts. This challenge is all about textures.  Check out the inspiration photo:

challenge28_challenge

Doesn’t that make you just want to snuggle under that blankie on that sofa and watch a movie. It just looks so soft and warm to me.  (Insert happy sigh here)

So anyway, here’s what I came up withchallenge28nette

I thought of this soft ribbon in the new Lawn Fawn Dapper package immediately when I saw the inspiration.

I hope you like it and that you will play along to help us go out in style.

Hugs and blessings!

Lawn Fawn Fly Free

Hi Friends,

I have another fun set of Lawn Fawn stamps to preview today. It’s a mini set called “Fly Free.” This is such a sweet little set that can be used in a variety of ways.

DSC_0118

You can see that I paired the birds and sentiment from Fly Free with two earlier Lawn Fawn sets, Partly Cloudy (Clouds) and Critters in the Burbs (the grass). I also broke out some more of the yummy ribbon that Lawn Fawn will begin selling. This is from the Chipper set of ribbon, and it’s SO pretty. (I love ribbon).

For the last couple of posts, I’ve been teasing a December give away. I’m going to be giving away a prize package with all sorts of goodies, chipboard, ribbon, stamps. I’ll photograph the prize package and post it later in the week once the Lawn Fawn previews are done. Just know that there are some fun goodies in it. All you need to do to be entered to win is comment between this past Sunday and December 8th (when we’ll pick a random winner).

Thanks for stopping by and have a blessed day

Lawn Fawn My Silly Valentine

Hi Friends,

Happy Monday!  For those of us in the U.S., how come the long weekends go by so quickly? Oh my goodness, I cannot believe that the weekend is over already.  I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend, and for my friends from other countries, I hope you had a great weekend too!

Now, I am sure you are here to see a sample (or two—he he) from the upcoming Lawn Fawn release, so without further delay, I’d like to share some samples from “My Silly Valentine.”

sillyvalentinegroupsot

You can see that I made a set of cards. This set is packed full of cute images with coordinating sentiments. It made me think of the cute little cards we gave out as little kids.  That was the thought that led to the set of cards. Here are some close up images:

New Lawn Fawn Preview

Hi Friends

It’s time again for the new Lawn Fawn Release. This month, we’ve an added element to share with you. Lawn Fawn is going to be carrying May Arts Ribbon and selling them in adorable bundles. They’re called “Lawn Trimmings,” cute huh?

I’m sharing a card I made with the teal ribbon from “Dapper".

DSC_0053

As you can see, I used multiple Lawn Fawn sets in this card, Critters in the Snow, Jessie’s ABCs and Frosties. Once again, I have to say that I love how well the Lawn Fawn stamps coordinate together.

Be sure to check out the Lawn Fawn blog and the other design team members’ blogs to see how they used the ribbons.

Happy Thanksgiving

Hi Friends,

I wanted to share with you one of the Thanksgiving cards that I sent.

DSC_0047

I just love the cornucopia image from the Lawn Fawn Harvest Season set.  Lots of fun coloring with this image.

As I have been preparing for the holiday, the following bible verse has come to mind.

“Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow. (James 1:17, NASB)”

This seems like an appropriate verse for Thanksgiving. I have so many things to be thankful for, and I need to give thanks to the giver of all things… the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As I reflect on how blessed I am, I am reminded that the biggest gift I have is the personal relationship I have with Jesus Christ and the assurance of spending eternity with Him.

On today, while we celebrate with our family and friends, I encourage us all to give thanks to our Heavenly Father.

Have a very blessed Thanksgiving my friends.

NFL Color Challenge

imagesCAN0YJKU

Hi Gang,

My beloved Colts lost yesterday, but I still love my team. That’s why when Brandi contacted me about doing a blog hop using our favorite NFL team’s colors, I said “sign me up!” What a fun idea for a challenge. Just because we are girls, and we craft, doesn’t mean that we can’t like football, right?!

When I was deciding what to make, I thought, Christmas tags… While this may not be too surprising considering that I've been making a bunch of tags recently, I still need tags. All the tags I’ve made recently have been for other people, so we need some for Christmas gifts.

Here’s what I came up with:

nflcolors2

nflscolors4

nflcolors3

I hope you like. Next up on the hop, is Kelly, Mrs. Lawn Fawn. Speaking of Lawn Fawn, there’s a bunch of Lawn Fawn fun in these tags. I used Lawn Fawn’s Frosties, Cozy Christmas and Teeny Tiny Backdrops. If you’d like to start at the beginning, go back to Brandi’s blog.

Thanks for stopping by! If you are inspired to make something using your team’s colors, please let me know, I’d love to check it outSmile

Photo Christmas Cards

Hi Friends,

Happy Weekend!  I hope your weekend is off to a great start. Somehow I woke up at 3:45 and couldn’t go back to sleep. I decided to get up and do some crafting.  However, I’m not posting that today. I thought I’d share the last the last of the card sets that I made for Demaree.  For the last few years, Demaree has asked me to make a photo card base for her Christmas cards.  Today, I’m sharing the cards that I made for her this year. Please note, I just stuck a photo on there to give an idea of what the card will look like. Demaree will get a much better photo of Mia and cut to fit the mat, I’m sure.

dem2010christmascard

So for these cards, I sprayed the red paper with a coat of the new Ranger Perfect Pearl Mist (Perfect Pearl).  I wanted to give a little shimmer to the card because. (I did this because when I embossed the snowflakes in silver there was stray embossing powder and a bit of a haze, so I thought that the mist would mask that… I love embossing, but it also frustrates me. Sorry, I digress). I used Lawn Fawn’s Frosties to create the snowflakes, and Cozy Christmas for the sentiment.  Hope you like!

Thanks for stopping by.

Have a blessed weekend

Shower Thank Yous

Hi and Happy Friday!

Hello weekend, glad to see you! Any of you have big plans for the weekend? Starting your travel plans? Whatever you do, I hope you enjoy and are safe.

Today, is the second installment of shower cards that I made for Demaree. Today, I’m sharing the “Thank You” cards. I wanted them to coordinate with the invites but not look exactly alike, so here’s what I came up with:

cherisethankyou

You can see I kept the colors and the umbrellas. I wanted them to be flat so that they’d not cost her more to mail. Anyway, I hope she likes them.

Have a blessed weekend

Supplies:

Stamps: Lawn Fawn Partly Cloudy, and Just my Type 2

Paper: Neenah (white), Recollections (Silver)

Shower cards

Hi Friends,

Wow, this week has gone fast! Can you believe next week is Thanksgiving?? Oh my goodness.

Lately, I’ve had to do several projects requiring mass production.  Today, I’m sharing some baby shower invitations that I made for Demaree’s sister’s shower.

cheriseshower

The shower is in January which is why we went with the snowflakes.  She’s expecting a little boy, and the colors of the shower are blue, brown, white and silver.  I made 39 of these (was going to be 40, but I messed one up---one reason why I always make extra of what people ask for). I also made 40 thank you cards that I will post on another day.

Hope you like!

October CARDS publications

Hi Friends,

Happy Monday. I had such a fun weekend with Demaree. It went by SO fast as all the weekends do, but this one was extra fast. We went shopping, out to a nice dinner on Friday. Then Saturday, we made fun appetizers, watched movies and crafted all day... Really couldn't have been a better weekend.

Since Demaree was here, I don't have new stuff to post (yet). I thought I’d share the cards that I had published in CARDS magazine in October.

This first one was for a card with a coordinating envelope. (just love that Lawn Fawn stamps were published)

And this one was for Halloween tags/cards.

Lawn Fawn Gift tags

Hi Friends,

I hope your week is going well, I’m grateful to say that I have a short week this week. Tomorrow is my last work day. My friend, Demaree, is coming to visit and arrives on Friday. I’m really excited and looking forward to seeing her and spending time together.

Today, I’d like to share some gift tags I made for a friend whose daughter is doing something special for hospitalized children. She’s even gotten “not-for-profit” status. Her project is called “Angels for Epilepsy.” Here’s a link to her website: angels4epilepsy.org

Here are just 8 gift tags that I made:

DSC_0041

DSC_0045DSC_0046DSC_0052

Truly, the Critters in the Snow set and Winter Bunny by Lawn Fawn are SO flipping cute. They make such cute gift tags! These gift tags were pretty quickly put together because I had to make so many. I got to spend some time coloring in front of the tv and then assembled in stages. They were a lot of fun to make. I hope they bless the kiddos that they go to.

Last week, I had a couple of questions posted that I’d like to respond to. One was in regards to the blue background and the reflection. The blue is actually two sheets of thick transparency that are covered in this blue film for protection. They are naturally reflective, but I also add a transparency sheet that reflects the images when photographing. I have so much to learn about taking photos but I do like the blue (as evidenced by the frequency of my use of it) because it really pops the color.

The other question was in regards to a card I posted here and the patterned paper that I used. I regret to say that I cannot say with 100% certainty who made the paper. I think it was Bo Bunny, but I am not certain. If I can find confirmation of the maker, I’ll update.

Thanks as always for stopping by.

Big hugs

Nette
