Graduation party

Hi Friends,

I looked and noticed that Tuesday was my last post. What is up with that?! This week got away from me. And the weekend is going to be a busy one too.

Today, we are off to my best friend's son's graduation party. (I'm sure I punctuated that incorrectly, so forgive me). Tomorrow, we have church, picnic at church, baby-shower at church, then a cookout at some friends'. WOW!! It's all fun stuff, so I know we're going to enjoy ourselves.

Anyway, the photo today, isn't a card. I'm sharing one of things I made to take to the graduation party. Courtney's post led me to make this, so thank you Courtney!!

Isn't it just so fun? I used a pail that I purchased with a coupon at Michael's. Then I had to decorate it a little (not too much, it is a male's graduation party, after all). I used floral foam to hold the popsicle sticks. The caps are Reese's cups, Ghiradelli chocolate, mini-Hershey's candy-coated kisses, and chopped up Twizzlers. (I couldn't find the cool candy that Bakerella used, so I went with Twizzlers).

Enj0y your weekend. I plan to post tomorrow to share my contributions to the baby shower decorations.

Raspberry Suite Challenge

Hi Friends

I'm so happy that I have gotten to participate in some challenges this week. Challenges are so fun to do. Too bad that the Mr. Linky isn't working, so I know that it will be more work for Dawn. Below is my entry for the Raspberry Suite challenge.
I hope you all enjoyed the long weekend. We had a very nice weekend. We made some progress on home improvements, but also made time to relax and have fun. All-in-all it was wonderful. My dear husband extended his weekend, and took off today and tomorrow. (His birthday is tomorrow). He's been working so hard in school, so I'm glad he's taking some time off. I cam home today, and he had connected the XBox 360 and was trying it out. (Keep in mind that I bought this for his anniversary present which was over a month ago... It was still in the box until today).
I've baked and iced his cake. I made a Milky Way Cake which is yummy. It's VERY rich. The cake and icing are made with melted milky ways, so it is a chocolately caramelly yum-fest. Not very calorie friendly for those of us watching our waistline, but it is Carlin's birthday.
Have a great week

Race Day

Hi Bloggin' Friends,

Today's card features some watercoloring. I've not done much coloring lately which I love, so I decided yesterday to do some coloring.

I actually did the technique "No Copics-No Problem" back by Julie Buehler. I've linked her video tutorial, but it is also on Splitcoaststampers. You do this technique by using your Stampin' Up markers although other water based markers would probably work. The layout is so simple, obviously. I tried different layouts that just didn't suit my liking. I just decided that simple was best. We're getting ready for church. We hope to miss some of the race traffic. Today is the Indianapolis 500, and we live not too far from the track. Thankfully, our church is in the opposite direction, so we should be okay. The forecast has called for rain, but it looks like it may miss Indy. I hope for the race-goers sake it does. I also bought some plants yesterday, so I'd like to get those in the ground today :)

I spent some time painting our ceilings yesterday, and boy that is hard work, looking up the whole time. I cannot believe the difference. I had no idea how dirty our ceilings were. They look soooo white now (where I've painted anyway). Sheesh, who knew?!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Happy Anniversary

Hi all,

I hope your weekend is off to a wonderful start. I just love long weekends. Carlin is busy studying, and I have made a few cards (warm up cards since I've been out of the ol' craft room for awhile).

The card I'm sharing today is one that I made for the anniversary stack. We try to send out anniversary cards to friends, and family. I think it's nice to remember couples' anniversaries, so I try to keep some made and ready to send when an anniversary comes up.

I don't know about you, but I sometimes try to make anniversary cards less blingy since they are being sent to a couple. Hence, the simplicity of this card. (Other times, I just go with all the frills).

I have to share something a friend turned me onto. Since I got my Nikon D40, I haven't done any editing. I don't have photoshop and am not really ready to make the financial commitment yet. So, a friend turned me onto http://www.picnik.com/, and it is fabulous! You can do so much editing for free, and you can upgrade to more functions for only $24.95. This card is my first attempt at editing, and let me tell you it is a big improvement over the original which was darker. Hopefully this info is useful for you.

Have a very blessed day and weekend!

Another missed color challenge card

Hi Friends,

Here's the card that I created for Kristina's challenge but didn't get it uploaded in time. Since I made it, I thought I'd go ahead and post it on the blog.

So, is everyone excited about the upcoming Memorial Day weekend? I know that I am. We really don't have plans, so I'm hoping to get caught up around the house. Of course, I plan to fit in some crafting. I just realized today how close Father's day is, and I have a couple friends with birthdays. I need to get those in the mail. How bad is it for me not to get cards to people (I have a gazillion laying around).

I hope all is well with you. Many blessings.

Missed another challenge

Hi Friends,

I am back. I haven't had much time this week to craft or to blog. (I've made my rounds on reading blogs though...)

So, I made some cards for Dawn and Kristina's challenges, but I didn't get to the computer in time tonight to link them. Oh well, I'm going to share them here anyway:)

The one I'm sharing tonight I made for Dawn's challenge.

I hope you are having a great week. Thanks for stopping by!

Friday

Hi Friends!

I have a quick post today. I'm getting ready to go to Chicago (actually a suburb) to visit one of my best friends and attend her daughter's second birthday party. I haven't seen Demaree (my friend) since October, so I am very excited for our visit. I'll be back on Monday. Until then, here's a card that will look familiar. It's the same layout that I used for the Raspberry Suite color challenge 5, but it is in the colors from Kristina Werner's latest challenge. Unfortunately, I didn't get it done in time to post for her challenge. The sad thing is that I actually prefer it to the one I made for Dawn's challenge. Oh well, I will send it to someone:)

I need to run and finish packing. I'm going into the office for a half day, and then hitting the road for the road trip (about 3 1/2 hours from Indy).

I look forward to catching up on all your blogging when I return.

Blessings,

Lynnette
