Lawnscaping Challenge

553564_4331792181840_74682731_n
Hi Friends
I hope you had a fabulous weekend.  Who’s already doing Christmas parties? We went to Carlin’s family to celebrate Christmas with them. It was a busy weekend. I guess that always happens this time of year, tons to do without enough time to do it!
A new Lawnscaping challenge kicks off today, and it’s sponsored by Lawn Fawn.  A free set of stamps to the winner.
This challenge is all about Shine. Anything you can add to your project to make it shine is acceptable (glitter, mists, rhinestones, you name it!)
Here is my project:
DSC_0040
I used the following Lawn Fawn Stamps: Happy Everything, Quinn’s ABC’s, and Sweet Christmas.  I added some “shine” with Stickles, May Arts ribbon, and Hero Arts gems.  I love sparkley, so this challenge was right up my alley.
Thanks for stopping by

Lawn Fawn + May Arts Week

Hi Friends

I hope you are having a good week!  I cannot believe it is December 12th already.  Where did the time go? This week Lawn Fawn and May Arts have gotten together for a fun week of projects.  The Lawn Fawn Design Team received a box full of ribbon (which was delightful!)  I had trouble deciding which to use and how to use it.  (So be advised you are likely to see more projects with some of this amazing ribbon).

You can see that I'm in full blown get ready for Christmas mode...  For today, here is what I came up with

I used making Frosty Friends and a candy cane from Sweet Christmas.  After I made the mini card, I smeared stickles on it for a sparkly effect.  For the box itself, I used a box from the $1 bin at Target. I ruffled the ribbon around the box using glue dots.  (I would've used red-line tape but couldn't find my supply... but glue dots worked well).  I used the glittery ribbon to tie up the package!

.For this mini card, I used Sweet Christmas and also smeared Stickles on the card for glitter to go with the gift box.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to visit both the Lawn Fawn blog and May Arts for more inspiration.

Basket making

DSC_0091

Hi Friends
I hope you’ve had a great week and love the new Lawn Fawn stamp sets. Aren’t they so cute?
Today, I wanted to share how to make baskets using patterned paper.
(I’ve made baskets for years using reed, and I thought this would be a cool thing to do with patterned paper).
Since I don’t do videos… I have step out instructions photographed to make the basket at the top of this post.
Step 1:
Cut paper strips. You will need an even number of strips.  I cut mine to be 3/4 inch by 12 inches. The side pictured here is what will be on the outside of the basket
DSC_0037
Step 2:
Align an even number of strips vertically. For this basket, I am making a 5 strip by 5 strip basket, but you can do whatever dimensions, you just need to be sure you have an even number of total strips.
DSC_0041
Step 3
Weave in the horizontal strips.  You will do an over under weave. Make sure that the second row starts differently than the first (if you started weaving over on the first horizontal row, the second row will need to start under the vertical strip, and continue alternating).  When you start your base, do not worry about making it need and tidy until you have all the horizontal strips weaved in.
DSC_0046
Step 4
You will need to “square up” your base.  Notice that there are gaps between the strips, this is important. Weaving is much easier if you have the gaps. I try to keep mine evenly spaced.
DSC_0048
Step 5
You now will want to fold up your strips. I use my bone folder to crease them and give a nice edge.

Here’s a photo after all have been creased
DSC_0063
Step 6
You will now start weaving your basket through the base you’ve created.  You will do the same sort of weaving as you did to create the base (Over and under). EDTA, this is done with new strips of paper.  You will need to have cut several strips to weave through your base.. Each subsequent row should offset the previous row.  (Check yourself as you work to make sure you are maintaining the over-under pattern---it’s surprising how easy it is to get off the pattern)
DSC_0066Another view of starting the first row. Some tips: Use you glue to hold the strips in place… and the first row is always the most difficult. Each row thereafter gets easier, I promise
DSC_0062
So here’s a photo of my basket after weaving all the rows. You will notice that there are pieces that are over the top row of the basket…DSC_0067 Step 7
Trip those ends!

and a photo of the basket with the ends trimmed…

Step 8
Make and attach your basket handle.
For mine, I used a 1 inch by 10 inch strip of patterned paper. I doubled it so that each side would have the red with white snowflakes.  (I just glued two strips together).

Step 9
Decorate your basket
DSC_0084
Step 10
Fill your basket. (I used mine for gift packaging as you can see)
DSC_0091
For the record, this is the only gift I have wrapped so far

Just for fun, here are some baskets I’ve made using the Lawn Fawn Fa-la-la papers

I hope you enjoyed the tutorial. I know it’s not as much fun as a video. Maybe someday I’ll venture into videos. (Wink).
Let me know if you decide to make some paper baskets. I  would love to see them!!

Lawn Fawn Inspiration week

HI again

Two posts in one day, I know, it’s crazy.  There’s just so much fun to be shared right now.
Today, kicks off a  mini reveal for Lawn Fawn.  They are releasing a couple of sets in celebration of Valentine’s day.  Yep, it’s already time to start thinking of those projects
Today, we are featuring the newest full size (4X6) set called, “Here’s the Scoop”.  It’s super cute.  I think you’ll love it.

Here’s the card that I made:

This only features 3 of the many images in the set. Be sure to head of the Lawn Fawn Blog to see the rest of the design team’s projects.  I’m sure you’ll be inspired (and maybe hungry for some sweets).

Lawnscaping Challenge #

Hi Friends
I hope you had a fabulous weekend!  I cannot believe it’s already December. This year has gone by so fast, I can’t believe it. Christmas is around the corner, and while I have most of my shopping done, I still have loads to do.
Today, Lawnscaping is kicking off Challenge 47 which is a color challenge (Red, Turquoise, and Kraft).  Our challenge is sponsored by Simon Says Stamp who will generously give the winner a $25 shopping certificate.
SimonSaysStamp_160x240
I decided to go with a  Christmas card and use the uber cute Lawn Fawn set, Sweet Christmas.  I just love the numerous options for creating with this adorable stamp set.  I decided just to make my card with some of the yummy treats
DSC_0021

I colored with my Copics and added some Hero Arts gems, Stickles, and my Star Gelly Roll pen to give it some sparkle.
Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you play along with us at Lawnscaping!
